The goals of Occupy Phoenixville are to stand in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protest movement, and to provide local donations and support for the Occupy Philadelphia movement as well.

We understand that actions are needed on a national ,and indeed global level, towards changing perspective and consciousness about our financial systems and political irresponsibility.

However, we feel that our greatest impact can come from taking action locally, and working together to improve our immediate governance and hold it accountable to the goals that are in the best interest of its people.

The Occupy Phoenixville website traffic has been exploding since our website has gone live and our press releases in “The Phoenix” and “Around Phoenixville” have come out. Many have subscribed to our blog and hundreds now have viewed our various pages. I think this presents a good opportunity for the citizens of Phoenixville to voice their concerns or grievances for local issues that can be addressed in our Occupy Phoenixville Movement. We look forward to hearing what your concerns are and working towards improving their conditions. Just place a comment below and we’ll give you an update on what our conclusions are and what action we are going to take.

Even better, come out and participate in our GA’s and let’s work together to make Phoenixville a town we all build together for the betterment of us all. A schedule has been added to the page for future Occupy Phoenixville Meetings.

 

OCCUPY THE POLLS!!!

Occupy Phoenixville, a multi-generational group of area residents, has been meeting weekly since mid-October to express solidarity with the Occupy movement and to consider what a local expression of Occupy might look like. The group is committed to understanding our current economic and political structures and to finding ways to make our systems more equitable and just for all.

Members of the group have provided food and other materials for Occupy Philadelphia and have taken part in Occupy Philadelphia General Assemblies. As a first step in Phoenixville, Occupy Phoenixville encourages those concerned about our country and economy to Occupy the Polls on November 8, Election Day. Information about voting in Phoenixville, with links to additional voter information, is available on the Occupy Phoenixville website:

The group is also hoping to host a film and discussion series that will help illuminate the problems we face and the changes needed.
